Jacob Schweitzer

Hey-hey, I'm a 3D Artist with three years of industry experience. While modeling is my focus, I've studied animation, and had the opportunity to work in surfacing and shot finaling.I know my way around Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Blender, and many other industry-standard tools. I'm also familiar with Python scripting for Maya.My past projects include Reindeer in Here, Dino Ranch, Rubble & Crew, and Lucas the Spider.

Reindeer in Here

On Reindeer in Here, I created a number of story-significant Hero Assets, along with exterior and interior sets and the majority of the foliage seen in the special.

Hero Assets
Yule Detector

I built this asset out of props I made for Theo, including his backpack, toy robot, skateboard, toy rocket, bike wheel fishing rod, and string lights.

Santa's Snowglobe

I created the globe's base in Zbrush, making sure its silhouette was consistent with the concept art. After the basic shape was approved, I carved out the intricate designs on the stand.

Exterior
Parkette

I created the gazebo, string lights, fountain, benches, fencing, snow, and all the foliage except for the coniferous trees.

Interior
Theo's Room

I was responsible for modeling the entire bedroom set and all the items in it.

Dino Ranch

On Dino Ranch, I spent most of my time with environments, modeling walls and rubble, set dressing, and making large-scale fixes to existing assets while being careful to preserve previous work from other departments.

Canyon and Mine

I was tasked with the majority of the set dressing for the canyon and mine. For example, placing the craters in a natural way while also providing a clear path for the characters.

Snowy Mountain

For the mountain set, I was asked to adjust the lake's ground plane to allow for future changes. This involved changing the stream portion of the lake by removing sections, shrinking the path, and adding connecting geometry.

Rubble & Crew

My time on Rubble & Crew was short, but eventful. I was assigned a few props that are still used throughout the show, but my most exciting task was modeling the logo.

Logo

I first created the shield, followed by the wrench, and then the text. Afterwards, I used a bend deformer to achieve the desired look. Finally, I created the ampersand, bolts, and paw print.

Projects

HONDA: Motra

Currently working on this vintage motorcycle, the Honda Motra. It's been a fun challenge!Modeled in Maya.

Japanese Public Telephone

I modeled and textured this public telephone as a personal project. I wanted to make a prop that had a lot of character to it, with lots of wear and tear.Modeled in Maya and Zbrush
Surfaced in Substance Painter
Baked the maps and rendered in Marmoset

Akira Toriyama: Vehicle

Took this funky looking machine designed by Akira Toriyama (Creator of Dragonball) and decided to bring it into 3D.Modeled in Maya and rendered in Arnold.

Shinobi: Tanuki

I started with a rough blockout in Maya to figure out the proportions, and after that I brought it into Zbrush to sculpt. With the texturing, I tried a more stylized approach by baking all the maps in Substance Painter and painting in Photoshop. Finally, to add some life, I rigged and animated them in Maya.Original Concept by Nuo Xu.
